Get Empowered

You don't have to be a programmer to customize GL Suite. GL Suite's unique design enables the average user to change screens, fields, features and reports on demand.*  Whether a change in the law or an agency improvement project, GL Suite gives you a powerful, configurable tool to run your agency.  GL Suite works the way you want.
*You decide which users are allowed to make these changes, using our security functionality.

Take Control

Spend your time improving your agency instead of negotiating IT priorities or writing procurement proposals.  Once installed, GL Suite's configurability enables you to enhance and modify the system through a series of simple, wizard-like screens.  GL Suite provides training and support to show you how.

Granular vs. Modular Functionality

GL Suite provides a base set of tools that you can mix and match to fulfill an agency need.  For example, GL Suite provides the ability to update a field or send an email.  Whether you use that capability to increment a license number to the next value or set a late fee due is up to you.  Because GL Suite provides a core set of functionalities that can be recombined to meet almost any business need, we call our software "granular."

Other vendors offer "modular" software.  The features are prepackaged in preprogrammed bundles. While some changes to the generic functionality are supported by the software vendor, typically these changes must be made by their staff at an additional charge.

Easily Customized

GL Suite enables you to:
  • Create new screens and new fields whenever needed for each data type.
  • Modify field characteristics such as name, color, size, and allowed values.
  • Define business rules for data validation, automatic record creation, setting default values, and application logic.
  • Create and modify reports, queries and letter templates (with data merge fields.)
  • Set security for every screen, field, report and process.

Default Setup

GL Suite's default setup incorporates more than a dozen core data types such as license, task, payment, exam, correspondence, enforcement and other records. These data types can be further defined or sub-categorized as needed. For example, license data can be organized into professions being licensed such as accountants, physicians, and well drilling types.

Business Rules and Data Associations

Every data type in GL Suite can be associated with its own set of business rules, security and fields.

GL Suite enables you to define business rules for:
  • data validation
  • automatic record creation
  • setting default values
  • application logic
For example, your agency might have a business rule that individuals are charged an additional fee if an application is submitted past the deadline. Your application administrator would set up the amount and due date of the fee by using the configuration manager. If one or more new fields are required, they can easily be created and then defined with the appropriate data type and properties. You can easily modify the field characteristics such as name, color, size, and allowed values.

Custom Programs

While most agency requirements can be configured within the application, GL Suite also supports custom programs and reports written by either agency staff or through on-going support agreements with GL Suite. Custom programs can be developed in any language deployable on a Windows 2003 Server or later operating system, as long as it has an accessible programming interface such as Visual Basic, C++, SQL, and XSLT.
